SNS deputy leader Aleksandar Vučić says this opposition party is yet to decide who to nominate as presidential candidate in elections expected later this year.

Speaking in Kruševac, central Serbia, he noted that the SNS at this point considers the position of prime minister as the most important.

Last week, party leader and MP Tomislav Nikolić was selected as SNS candidate for prime minister.

“We are yet to decide on who to nominate as presidential candidate, and SNS now considers the position of prime minister to be most important, because that position has the broadest jurisdiction,” Vučić stressed, adding that the position of prime minister could enable changes advocated by the party.

When asked about the party’s potential coalition partners, Vučić underlined that no big surprises can be expected in that respect, but did not wish to specify any possibilities.

According to him, “the SNS does not want to form coalitions with any of the crucial members of the current ruling coalition, but are willing to cooperate with rural and workers’ associations”.

Vučić also called on the people who want changes to vote, adding that if the Progressives win, they would “work on improving the business environment with the aim of creating jobs”.
